Amid construction, flooding, Belle Isle residents to meet

The annual Belle Isle Residents Association meeting is a month away, and its hard to imagine more to talk about on our island.

The drainage project in front of the Grand Venetian seems to produce a mini-flood daily, and real progress is difficult to see.

Construction on the Venetian Causeway water mains moves forward, but is pushing its December completion deadline. And the huge streetscape construction plan will follow next month.

The city is looking into complaints of burglaries on the Venetian Islands.

The annual meeting happens Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. at Belle Plaza, 20 Island Ave. City representatives are supposed to be there to answer questions, and an agenda is being assembled by the association, led by president Scott Diffenderfer. If you have questions in advance, or issues you want raised, you can email bod@belle-isle-residents.org.
