The road gods giveth, the road gods taketh away

Okey dokey. The good road construction news first:

By Monday, the of Miami Beach says it will reopen one east and one west lane on 17th street between the 17th Street Bridge and Alton Road. So we’ll no longer have to detour to Dade Boulevard to make our east.

But…..starting Monday night, the repaving of West Avenue between  Lincoln Road and Fifth Street begins. According to the Florida Department of Transportation, this work will be done mostly at night. We’ll see what impact this has as the work moves forward.

  1. I guess you have to always suspect construction in a growing city. Luckily, the good news balances out the bad news. Thanks for the heads up!

  2. FYI – I just had to detour to Dade Boulevard because 17th Street Bridge is closed today. This construction is the bane of my existence.

  3. I’m so confused. 17th Street Bridge is open now. Was this a one time thing I experienced today or is there a schedule for the hours it will be open and closed in the future days and months ahead?

  4. What a tease. They should just keep 17th Street bridge closed while they complete the work and open it when it’s finished instead of occasionally opening and closing it. Could you imagine if they did that with the westernmost bridge on The Venetian Causeway?
