Miami Beach is providing text traffic alerts to your phone

IMG_5589This seems like a good idea: The city of Miami Beach has begun providing text message alerts of traffic snarls around the city.

You sign up with your phone. We did this yesterday, and last night around 7:20, got an alert warning about a backup on Alton Road.

If you pay for individual text messages, know that standard rates apply.

To register, text to 91011, and send this message: MBtraffic.

It’s case sensitive. You should get a confirmation text back and you’re good to go.
