The Venetian Causeway is closed

IMG_4647We walked the length of Venetian Way and back from Belle Isle between 6 and 7 a.m.

IMG_4645IMG_4648It’s never seemed quieter. For residents, detour aside, enjoy the tranquility. The bridges belong to biker, runners, walkers and residents now — as long as you don’t want to cross to Miami.

  1. Hallelujah. I’ve been waiting for this day since the west bridge caved in. Best part is our Belle Isle bridge doesn’t have to stop causeway car traffic with their blaring radios to let Cigarette boats through. Hope this takes years to complete…

  2. Apparently there’s been a scooter accident on the part of the bridge that connects belle isle to purdy resulting in crime scene tape and a lane closure.😦

  3. Is it still open for pedestrians and bikes? What is the plan for that? Thanks!

    • The bridge is officially closed to all — on four wheels, two wheels, sneakers or strollers. Some runners are still crossing it in the early morning, going around the barricades. There is a designated bike lane on the north side of the MacArthur Causeway, though the ride is a bit unnerving.
