Updates on Venetian streetscape construction, Belle Isle drainage top residents association agenda

The Belle Isle Residents Association holds its annual meeting Wednesday night, and representatives from the city of Miami Beach are scheduled to provide an update on the various construction projects around Belle Isle and the other Venetian islands.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Belle Plaza meeting room, 20 Island Ave.

Key items include a report on the flooding/outflow pipe replacement in front of Grand Venetian, 10 Venetian Way, which has forced runners, bikers and moms with strollers across the street for the last two months, and an update on the construction timetable for the bridge repair and streetscape improvement project.

The Residents Association also expects updates on the Jan. 30 Miami Marathon (last year, there were noise complaints about people with bullhorns on Belle Isle at 6:30 a.m.), and a proposal for a July 4 air show in 2012 on Miami Beach.

Lynn Bernstein of the Miami Beach community resource and outreach team is expected to appear on behalf of the city, and she will take questions.

The association, led by President Scott Diffenderfer, will also elect new officers for 2011. If you are interested in running for the association board, email the association at bod@belle-isle-residents.org or call 305-458-334.
