On the day before Christmas, we’re all wet.
That’s right. The sun is shining, but Island Avenue is hubcap deep in sea water.
The city started work Oct. 25 on a project to fix this situation, and since then, the flooding has become almost a daily occurrence, rain or shine. Many days, no work appears to be taking place.
The work involves replacing an old, 16-inch clay outfall pipe, and is supposed to reduce the frequency of flooding.
We’ll try and get an update next week. The project manager, Carla Dixon, has been on vacation, and returns Monday.
