A peaceful day in Belle Isle Park

Mrs. Blog captured this shot. Okay, birders. Egret or heron?

Belle Isle Park is great for runners, walkers, kids puppies and birds.

Is this heaven or what?

  2. I see that Mrs. Blog captured this image with her Iphone 4. There’s still time before Christmas to get her “iBird for the iPhone” (really). Take a picture of a bird, it tells you what it is (!).

Anyway, I’m pretty sure that’s a snowy egret, and the same one that has been handing around the park winters for years, often found perched on car hoods like an ornament. I’ve been told that all egrets are a form of heron, but I’m not sure. Anyway, the snowy egret: http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/48/overview/Snowy_Egret.aspx
