One left lane will be closed on the MacArthur Causeway heading west toward mainland Miami between midnight Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday for construction work on the Port of Miami tunnel project, according to a city of Miami Beach traffic advisory.
In addition, the Parrot Jungle Trail will be reduced to one lane west of the Miami Children’s Museum to the entrance of Parrot Jungle through Friday, Sept. 10. That’s the road that loops under the MacArthur Bridge on Watson Island to allow eastbound drivers to get to the attraction on the north side of the island.
It’s all part of the $1-billion tunnel project. Some Venetian Causeway residents worry that construction of the tunnel will cause congestion on the MacArthur and cause more commuters to use the Venetian Causeway, jamming traffic through the islands.
