Metrobus will monitor speeding on Belle Isle

South Beach Local leaving Belle Isle for Miami Beach.

When Miami Beach Commissioner Jonah Wolfson met Belle Isle residents last month at Belle Plaza, he heard complaints that the South Beach Local speeds too fast around the Island Avenue loop.

Now, he’s sharing this correspondence from the county transit agency pledging to slow down:

We will increase our bus supervision of the South Beach Local at Belle Isle, which will include the use of speed guns to monitor the speed of buses. In addition, a bulletin will be prepared for South Beach Local operators reminding them that their speed limit is 10 miles per hour.

— Robert P. Pearsall, manager, service planning and scheduling, Miami-Dade Transit.

We’ll see what happens next.
