Venetian Island homeowners wrangle to keep traffic flowing during bridge construction

How will we get off our islands when construction causes the closure of the westernmost span of Venetian Way, between Biscayne Island and mainland Miami?

Some members of the Venetian Islands Homeowner Association are actively lobbying the keep the easternmost drawbridge locked down during that time, which will begin some time in the fall.

The Miami Herald’s Cristina Veiga has a detailed look at issues.

Thank you. I enjoy reading about Belle Isle and the Miami area. Welcome back; keep them coming. Love the pictures.

  2. How about water taxis for westernmost bridge. Anyone who takes the bus to omni could get off and take a water taxi instead of the absurd route on 395, especially during peak times of year.

  3. A small ferry could easily get pedestrians, scooter riders, and bicyclists from one point to another. Have it run every 15 minutes back and forth during peek hours, and less frequently other times. Maybe have an app so people can check on ferry schedule. Ideally it would go from SW corner of Biscayne Island to NE corner of Miami Herald, and back & forth.
