Red light runners get ready — Miami Beach cameras are coming

Red means stop.

The city of Miami Beach Commission has delayed enforcement of their red light cameras until the middle of April, but indicated this week that they intend to move forward (and even add more intersections with another contractor)  with $125 fines after April 14.

For Belle Isle residents, the closest affected intersections are at Alton Road and 17th Street (westbound), and Dade Boulevard and 23rd Street and Dade and Washinton Avenue. But there were 10 locations in the city’s original plan, and the commission decided Wednesday to hire more. There will be more details to come, but here is background from your Belle Isle Blog and The Miami Herald.
